Beezyhives

Oxalic acid trickling

Winter treatment against varroa when the colony is broodless. It is over 90 per cent effective.

Updated · Beezyhives · Dansk

This guide is based on Danish conditions and rules. Rules, products and timing in your country may differ.
  • Timing: usually in December, when the colony is broodless.
  • Dose: follow the package leaflet for your product. The dose is given per seam of bees and depends on the product, so count the seams before you start.
  • Trickle the solution directly onto the bees in the seams. This can be done even when it is cold.
  • Use an approved product and follow the package leaflet. Do not repeat the treatment too soon.
  • Wear acid-resistant gloves and safety goggles.

Record the treatment in the app. It will then be included in your medicine log and you will get a reminder to count the mite drop afterwards.
